We are happy to announce that our Bisi Makanjuola has been selected for the 2019 Africa Arbitration Academy scheduled to hold in London, in June. The 2019 cohort is the representation of about 15 countries in Africa.
Olabisi S. Makanjuola is a Senior Associate and Head of Department, Dispute Resolution Practice at Olaniwun Ajayi LP. Olabisi is regarded as one of the “next rated stars” in the Nigerian legal market and has significant experience in international commercial arbitration, commercial litigation and core banking & finance deals.
Beyond leading cross-border mandates involving magic circle law firms, he was between September – December 2011 seconded to the London and Paris offices of Herbert Smith Freehills under the International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA) work exchange programme.
Some of the big ticket disputes he has handled include: represented an IOC in a multi-million dollar arbitration arising from the suspension of an EPC contract; represented a Nigerian Bank in a landmark LCIA arbitration brought by an Investor Group in respect of their preference shares investment in the bank; and represented a Nigerian Company in a multi-million dollar ICC arbitration involving enforcement of a Cooperation Framework Agreement.
