Olaniwun Ajayi is pleased to have been recognised at the prestigious IFLR Sub-Saharan Africa Awards 2020, as “The Nigerian Law Firm of the Year”.
In addition to the distinction of being regarded as the best law firm in Nigeria, we are incredibly honoured to have emerged Nigeria’s top firm in the “Capital Markets” and “Loans” categories – arguably, the most economically significant aspects of commercial legal practice in Nigeria.
We are also delighted that two of the many market shaping transactions on which we advised were singled out for recognition – the Airtel Africa IPO was recognised as the “Capital Markets Deal of the Year”,while the Savannah Petroleum/Seven Energy Restructuring(incorporating our work on the debt restructuring of Accugas, an entity in the Seven Energy group) was tagged the “Restructuring Deal of the Year”.
Speaking on this development, our Managing Partner, Professor Konyinsola Ajayi, SAN noted: “…it is heart-warming that the industry, dedication and creativity of our team of over 100 lawyers and other professionals has been recognised by these awards. Whilst we are grateful to the market for appreciating our leadership, we are indebted to our clients for their constant support and confidence in our work, which has brought us this recognition. It is our greatest pride to be associated with our clients and their success stories – and indeed, we are further propelled by this recognition to continue to push the envelope of innovation, for the benefit of our clients…”
The awards ceremony, which held virtually on 10 September 2020, saw Olaniwun Ajayi nominated in the “Project Finance” and “M&A categories”, as well as being nominated for its work on five other deals nominated for deal of the year – thus making us the Nigerian firm with the highest number of nominations (12) and awards (5) at the event.
