While the world continued to grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 with many companies and even economies focusing on stability and sustainability, the oil and gas sector was dominated by echoes of themes such as renewable energy and energy transitioning. For most stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, key focus areas included the continued spate of IOC divestments, rebound in crude oil prices, dwindling investments in the upstream sector, and the historic enactment of the long-awaited Petroleum Industry Act (“PIA”).
