In the wake of the enactment of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA), Olaniwun Ajayi LP on Thursday, the 11th of July 2019 hosted a Competition Law Knowledge Exchange at the Adunola Building, Banana Island, Ikoyi. The event themed the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act: A Deep Dive was led by a panel discussion with Mr. Babatunde Irukera – the Director-General of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission; Hon. Justice Nnamdi Dimgba – a Justice of the Federal High Court, and competition law expert; Ms. Lesley Morphet – the Partner of the Antitrust and Competition Practice, Hogan Lovells, Johannesburg; and Mr. Mfon Bassey – Deputy Director and Head of the Mergers and Acquisitions Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
As is the practice at Olaniwun Ajayi LP to consistently bridge the knowledge gap in the market, the Competition law knowledge exchange examined salient competition law concepts introduced by the FCCPA and the implications on businesses and regulators. To enable attendees to appreciate the implications of the provisions, lessons were drawn from other jurisdictions, and an insight into the perspective of the judiciary when interpreting was discussed.
Olaniwun Ajayi LP intends to keep the conversation going on this remarkable legislative milestone achieved in Nigeria and shall be hosting similar events in the future.
In case you missed it!
